The roots of the Hervé family can be traced back to 1607 when Jean-Marie Hervé, a sailor from Brittany serving the King of France, disembarked once and for all at the end of his career to settle in the parish of Saillans. In front of the estate, a menhir has even been erected to remind of the origins of the family. When Jean-Noël Hervé replanted the original vineyards, he found huge rocks underneath: Limestone stones! Instead of removing all of them, he kept one to make it a menhir. He wanted to show the visitors the terroir on which his grape vines are planted. The truth is therefore undeniable. The terroir of Château Hervé- Laroque is fantastic!, , Today’s owner of the estate, Thomas Hervé considers the work accomplished in the vineyard as the most essential for the quality of the wines produced. To start with, the age of the vines, one third of which are easily over 50 years old. All the necessary manual tasks – restrictive pruning, crown suckering, topping, removal of leaves from the heart of the shoot, crop thinning, removal of leaves on the east side and then on the west side – are performed to ensure that the grapes produced are the healthiest, purest and most characteristic of their variety., , The Cuvée of the 2021 Château Hervé- Laroque Le Menhir BASF Exklusiv is a composition of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The wines is deep purple-black colored. The 2021 Hervé Laroque Le Menhir BASF Exklusiv shows expressive scents of black raspberries, black cherry compote and nuances of mocha, cedar chest and spices.
